YSL’s MONDRIAN In Leather? By NORTH BEACH LEATHER

Yves Saint Laurent’s 1995 runway hit, the Mondrian dress (below) has been featured in many styles over the years, but I was pleasantly surprised to stumble on a leather version. A first, by one of my favorite designers Michael Hoban’s North Beach Leather. NBL (above) minimalistic take on the classic YSL dress by only using 2 color palettes and signature leather.

Worn circa 1973/74, Richards later gave the jacket away when he was packing up some possessions to move. The jacket features a collar, yoke and cuffs hand painted in shades of pink with Pegasus and sun motifs as well as cross-stitch and whip stitch detail in leather thonging. The label inside reads “Hand Crafted for NBL in Pitiguilo, Mexico.”

Lagerfeld X Macy’s Collection
Images: racked
The new Lagerfeld X Macy’s collection will feature affordable RTW pieces. The line is rumoured to launch for AW11, and is expected to be available both in store and online.
The high-low collaboration, rumored to include everything from denim to gowns, hasn’t been officially confirmed but all signs point to yes:
Speculation about the venture has been rampant since early September, when Lagerfeld announced that he would not be showing his signature collection during Paris Fashion Week and instead had a fast fashion line in the works…. ‘I wanted this for a long time,’ Lagerfeld told WWD. ‘I prefer to work in another way. I can’t compete with Chanel. I don’t want to be the poor child of myself. This has been my vision for years.’
